Longtime CCJHA member and volunteer Steve LaCourt received an electrical shock and went into cardiac arrest on Saturday, May 21. He was airlifted to the Neurotrauma Center in Duluth, Minnesota. His wife Michele is currently in Duluth with him. The first few days were pretty rough, but this morning we received word that the intubation tube is out and he is alert and speaking. Though this is great news, there is still a long road to recovery ahead.
The LaCourts have been involved in local hockey and with the CCJHA for many years, and both Steve and Michele spend countless hours volunteering for the CCJHA in various capacities.
Mounting medical costs and uncertain future medical needs will be a burden on the family for quite some time. With that in mind, a gofundme page was set up by Michele's family to assist. Please consider helping out if you can, as every little bit can make a difference.
Also, if you'd like to help but you’re uncomfortable making a donation online, donations can be made to the LaCourt's account at the Michigan Tech Credit Union.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the LaCourts in this difficult time.
